The Green Man, Kenilworth, 18/11/14

After rushing one of MJ’s friends to A&E after his thumb had been sliced open in the lab, the Pandas felt like a drink, and so it was that the ended up at The Green Man for a quick bite and a pint.  As ever, this Embers Inns pub had a decent range on offer, and while AR went for the burger (which was nice an juicy) with a white wine, MJ felt like being a bit Northern, so had the black pudding potato cakes with a pint of Yorkshire Blackout by The Great Yorkshire Brewery.  This creamy, chocolatey porter went well with what was essentially a slab of mashed up black pudding and potato that was then deep fried – MJ was in Northern heaven! Even though the potato cakes were lovely, he’s going to be disappointed if he has them again and they aren’t matched with this lovely beer.  After that there was time for another quick half, so sticking with the Northern theme MJ went for a Saison Obscurra by Otley Brewery, which was a nice dark bitter that still had quite a decent level of hops on the finish.  Lovely stuff all round =)
